CAMP at Work

Creative sessions for teams + organizations

What is CAMP?

CAMP stands for Creative Awakenings, Mindfulness + Play—a creative approach to helping people reconnect with themselves and each other.

At its core, CAMP offers accessible, low-pressure creative experiences. No art background required. No performance pressure. Just simple, hands-on making in a supportive environment.

CAMP at Work brings this experience directly into professional settings.

Why CAMP at Work?

Work is demanding. Teams are stretched, schedules are full, and genuine connection—the kind that builds trust and eases stress—rarely makes it onto the agenda.

CAMP at Work sessions create space for exactly that. Not another training. Not mandatory fun. Just a shared, human pause that offers your people a chance to breathe, make something, and connect with each other.

According to Mental Health Research Canada, nearly 39% of Canadian employees report feeling burnt out, and only 36% say their workplace offers real programs to address it. Support from coworkers and managers has the strongest positive impact on employee mental health. And yet, employees without trusted workplace relationships are three times more likely to feel isolated. Benefits Canada, 2025

These experiences don’t replace time off, flexibility, or strong management. They complement them by providing your team with a structured, accessible way to play, reconnect, and reset together.

Joanne T. Lauzon JoeGirl Artist Creativity Coach Ottawa, Ontario Canada

Meet Joanne

I’m Joanne—an Ottawa-based artist, facilitator, and founder of CAMP. I’ve been hosting creative experiences since 2015, and before that I enjoyed several years as a personal trainer and happiness coach. Helping people connect with themselves, and with each other, is something I’ve been doing in one form or another since 2009.

When I walk into a boardroom or event space, my job is simple—make people feel welcome, take the pressure off, and create the conditions for something wonderful to happen. I’ve watched skeptics become absorbed. I’ve seen colleagues discover things about each other they never knew. I’ve heard “I can’t draw” turn into “I can’t wait to take this home!”

This is the magic that happens when people make things together ✨

How a CAMP at Work session looks + feels

1 | ARRIVE + SETTLE

Participants arrive to a fully prepared space—no setup, no uncertainty. Everything is ready, creating an immediate sense of ease and care.

2 | GUIDED WARM-UP

Joanne leads a short, settling exercise designed to shift participants out of work mode and into a more present, creative headspace.

3 | CREATE + PLAY

Participants engage in guided creative work, either independently or collaboratively. No experience required—just hands-on making in a supportive environment.

4 | SHARE + CLOSE

The session closes with an opportunity to share and reflect. Participants leave feeling more relaxed, connected, and refreshed.

Kind words from clients + participants

“Setting up the event couldn’t have been easier. Joanne’s communication and clarity were evident from the start. She planned exactly what we hoped for and executed it flawlessly. Employees unplugged, recharged, and genuinely enjoyed themselves. The activity was accessible for all skill levels, and our paintings now proudly sit on our desks. Joanne is a natural teacher, and everyone’s feedback was positive.”

Aleksandra B., Boston Scientific, Ottawa

“Directing gently, step by step, Joanne offers participants insight only when asked, creating space where we can explore freely and trust our instincts. Her approach allows us to take ownership of our creative process. The experience is not just about making artwork, it’s about building confidence and learning to appreciate our own artistic voice.”

Isabel B., Ottawa

“Joanne a/k/a JoeGirl is the cat’s meow when it comes to all things creativity. It doesn’t matter if she is creating or teaching YOU to create, she brings an authentic quality that makes you swoon and delight in all things JoeGirl. She has taught me that creative play is truly where magic can happen…the kind of magic that guides and supports you to find your own style and confidence along the way. If you have a chance to learn from her in any capacity, jump at the opportunity. It can change your life as it has mine.”
