In case you need a reminder…
You are creative.
It’s easy to forget—amid everyday expectations and obligations—that creativity lives inside each and every one of us. Spoiler: it does. And honouring that creativity for even just a few moments is how we calm the mind, quiet the noise, and stretch out time.
Pick up a pencil, a brush, a marker. Draw a line, then another, and another. Connect your breath to your hand, your hand to the pen, the pen to the paper. Listen to the sound it makes. Watch how the lines appear. Feel how your body relaxes and notice how your thoughts soften.
Creativity is how we come home to ourselves.

![: In My Head… For over 25 years, freelance brand + publication design was my main gig. Big contracts for big clients—tech companies, municipal tourism associations, government agencies… and a famous Canadian band from Newfoundland, ahem* In 2015, I set the mouse and design software aside to pursue analog creativity—calligraphy pens, paint brushes, art commissions, and hosting workshops, classes + retreats—the artist’s dream, right? I was asked recently to project manage and take a leading role in a rather hefty corporate contract, doing work I have never done before. To say I am intimidated is the understatement of the decade. I have asked myself countless times “Who do you think you are, taking this on?” and have ugly-cried during moments of complete overwhelm at the seemingly massive assignment offered to me. I’m still sitting in the fear, though am choosing to push forward and lean into this opportunity to learn, grow, and quiet those nasty voices in my head.[ edited to add: This is a freelance contract, so not full-time, and it won't be replacing my current business offerings—just something new to add to the list! ]](https://scontent-yyz1-1.cdninstagram.com/v/t39.30808-6/710755404_1588200789979924_6626081760869665498_n.jpg?stp=dst-jpg_e35_tt6&_nc_cat=109&ccb=7-5&_nc_sid=18de74&efg=eyJlZmdfdGFnIjoiRkVFRC5iZXN0X2ltYWdlX3VybGdlbi5DMyJ9&_nc_ohc=mSI7_GpZFZkQ7kNvwFZdoOa&_nc_oc=Ado3bph9_i7E9tM8KJcn_L7w5BbJJmc1gxxJSlUhizG915iyHXBj3d9n-OIgsiNKCKY&_nc_zt=23&_nc_ht=scontent-yyz1-1.cdninstagram.com&edm=ANo9K5cEAAAA&_nc_gid=aYsmBbcAvRRDIbK_q05udQ&_nc_tpa=Q5bMBQEQN_TKiceN7ylfBo1ca7CLOO01OYE5jANcuY2Gw-ih_xpbxFRBRASxPb3MjPFlVOfRnz2pBsNc&oh=00_Af-DppziryvDOz9EOj-GhsFmd1vqwFb_PDtjMVwQViFKWA&oe=6A24C3F8)
