![: A few years ago, I created a wee collection of Magical Creatures in this style—unicorns, cats, and rocket ships. [ I know, rocket ships aren’t technically creatures, but if we’re talking about unicorns, we are setting reality aside anyway 😆 ] One of my CAMP friends visited from Michigan last weekend and she was hoping I still had a few available for purchase. I did not. However, I was inspired to create another while she and another local CAMP friend enjoyed their Joyful Flow retreat day. ![: In My Head… For over 25 years, freelance brand + publication design was my main gig. Big contracts for big clients—tech companies, municipal tourism associations, government agencies… and a famous Canadian band from Newfoundland, ahem* In 2015, I set the mouse and design software aside to pursue analog creativity—calligraphy pens, paint brushes, art commissions, and hosting workshops, classes + retreats—the artist’s dream, right? I was asked recently to project manage and take a leading role in a rather hefty corporate contract, doing work I have never done before. To say I am intimidated is the understatement of the decade. I have asked myself countless times “Who do you think you are, taking this on?” and have ugly-cried during moments of complete overwhelm at the seemingly massive assignment offered to me.
