Becoming Consciously Creative2021-09-16T11:26:33-04:00

You want more everyday creativity in your life,
and you don’t know where—or how—to start.

You struggle to make time + space for creative play,
and you haven’t found the solution that works for you.

You want to develop your own creative style,
and are overwhelmed by Pinterest + Instagram!

Many of us don’t recognize our innate creativity, or know how to access it…

What if you could learn to embrace your natural creativity, and call it into action anytime, anywhere?

We often feel like we don’t have enough time + space to create freely, and with ease…

Can you imagine having a daily creative practice that feels good + fits easily into your schedule?

We are so distracted by what everybody else is creating and posting on social media…

How would you like to trust your own creative instincts, and find inspiration within?

All of this is possible with the right mindset, dedication + guidance.

This is 100% possible for you… I know this.

My name is Joanne. I’m a small business owner, mom to 20- and 15-year old sons,  juggling all the things, and trying to squeeze every minute out of each day before I collapse into bed… which reminds me, when is the last time I washed the sheets!? Kidding, not kidding…

As a kid, I kept my creativity to myself. My family wasn’t artistic, so I often felt out of place. My sketchbooks full of doodles, and my diaries full of poems and song lyrics, were kept under my bed.

I outwardly expressed my creativity in other ways—decorating my room, playing with make up and hair (I totally wanted to be a hair stylist when I grew up!), and taking my camera out to capture tiny flowers and curious textures.

When the time came to choose my career path, my interests were on the professional side of creativity—interior design, film production, animation. I studied Creative Advertising at my local college and went on to build a business offering brand + publication design for over 25 years.

Add in marriage, kids, moving more than a few times, family illnesses, marriage breakdown, figuring out single life, a few career side-steps and part-time jobs to make ends meet, a global pandemic… and here we are.

For many of those years, I struggled to say no to obligations + expectations (professionals now call this setting boundaries), and I had no clue how to say “Yes!” to making time for myself to replenish my energy and honour my innate needs + desires (now known as self care).

Like most humans, I often felt tapped out, anxious, overwhelmed, afraid, and depressed.

I came super close to burnout a few times… until I found the solution.

A little creative play… every day.

In 2013, somebody close to me made a suggestion when I was feeling particularly flustered. He said “Joe, go open your sketchbook and do some doodling. Clear your mind, take some deep breaths, and just doodle.”

He continued,

“You are always calmer when you doodle.”

He was right! He was 100% right!

That observation was monumental, and my life has changed because of it.

  • Sketchbooks, pens, and paints are now always within reach.
  • TV time has been replaced with creative play time.
  • Trips to the wine store have been replaced with trips to the art store.
  • My dining room has been replaced with my art studio.
  • and… My graphic design contracts have been replaced with creative play events.

Since early 2015, through local and online workshops, classes + retreats, I have guided hundreds of women to discover + nurture their creative energy to the benefit of their overall wellbeing.

You can experience this creative wellbeing, too.

Now before you try to tell me you aren’t creative, hear me out.

Being creative is not always about being artistic.

Say what?

Yes. It’s completely true.

For some, it’s going for walks or dancing. For others, it may be photography, cake decorating, or writing. Your creativity might be expressed gardening, sewing, arranging fresh cut flowers, or singing in the shower!

Everyday creativity is about how we intentionally choose to spend our time + energy in order to be present, mindful, fulfilled + true to ourselves.

Making time every day for a little creative play keeps us grounded + centred, playful + inspired, calm + connected—to ourselves and others.

It would be an honour to guide YOU to discover + nurture your creative energy, to fully experience the magical impact daily creative self care can—and will—have on your entire experience.

I invite you to join my live premiere session of…

How is Becoming Consciously Creative different from your CAMP membership?2021-09-14T17:19:01-04:00

Becoming Consciously Creative (BCC) is a journey—with a starting point and a finish line. All participants will be on the same path at the same time, guided by me every step of the way. Course materials are published each week, in a specific order.

CAMP is more of a DIY, at-your-own-pace adventure. You can learn more about it at the CAMP website. Several of BCC participants for the September 2021 session are also CAMPers!

I love the sound of this… Do I have to be an artist to join?2021-09-14T17:19:15-04:00

Oh my goodness, no! Everybody is welcome to join. Becoming Consciously Creative is more about the process of letting go, becoming mindful and present, exploring new ways of doing + seeing things, and busting through mindset obstacles which are keeping you from enjoying some creative play every day.

I’m not able to join this time… Will you be offering this course again?2021-09-14T17:19:06-04:00

I sure hope so! This is the premier session of Becoming Consciously Creative. Based on participants’ feedback, I will make tweaks and edits, and offer it again early in 2022.

Is there a supplies list?2021-09-14T17:18:45-04:00

The full recommended supplies list is available now for registrants.

Everything will be easily accessible. Some items you can likely find around your home, others at the dollar store, and others at your favourite art store. I have also provided links to and as well, should you wish to order everything you need all at once, straight to your door.

What if I fall behind with the daily exercises?2021-09-14T17:18:03-04:00

Each week will include five (5) daily 20-minute exercises to be completed in your art journal, and two (2) days out in the world exploring + observing. You can use these two days to catch up as needed.

Furthermore, you will have lifetime access to the course materials beyond the the six weeks we are actively together.

What time + day will the weekly live check-ins be?2021-09-14T17:18:55-04:00

This will depend entirely on where the registrants are tuning in from.

Once registration closes on September 19th, I will look at everyone’s whereabouts, and choose a time (two, if necessary) that works for as many people as possible. Because each week’s content will be sent out on Thursday mornings, the ‘mid-week’ check-in will be the following Monday. These will be recorded and available as replays.
